As Chief Financial Officer, Premali is responsible for managing overall finance functions within the Legal Aid Society, including strategy, budgeting, planning, and building finance infrastructure to better support Legal Aid’s mission.
Premali has over 16 years of experience and a record of accomplishments in designing, strengthening, and managing finance functions by streamlining complex processes. Prior to joining The Legal Aid Society, she served as Director of Finance with the Guttmacher Institute – a global research organization specializing in women’s health rights. At the Institute, she built finance infrastructure to manage growth and was successful in designing and implementing financial and budgeting systems.
Before joining the Guttmacher Institute, she served as Director of Fiscal Controls, Compliance, and Planning at the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation – a community-based organization in Brooklyn, New York. At Restoration, her contributions were critical to centralizing the finance and administrative functions, bringing in operational savings as well as ensuring overall compliance with all funding agencies. Before moving to the social impact sector, Premali has several years of audit and consulting experience serving leading organizations across the globe.
Premali is a change leader with experience in building robust internal controls and multi-year planning. Having worked on three continents, Premali has a deep sense of appreciation for various backgrounds and cultures and strives toward creating an inclusive work environment.
Premali has an MBA from Birmingham City University, UK, and a Masters and Bachelors in Accounting and Finance from the University of Mumbai, India.
