At the Forefront of a National Movement

The first convention of Legal Aid Societies in America was held in Pittsburgh. Modeled after the first one, The Legal Aid Society in New York City, similar organizations were created throughout the country. Arthur von Briesen was hailed as the founder of the national movement.
