The Legal Aid Society and New York health advocates are calling on the state legislature to address issues plaguing the home care industry at this month’s COVID-19 hearings, according to POLITICO.
The state Assembly and Senate health committees on health, aging and oversight will meet to review the challenges the deadly virus poses to nursing homes, assisted living and home care services.
Attorneys from The Legal Aid Society have called attention to home care industry workers’ hours being cut due to issues generated by COVID-19.
“We’ve gotten nowhere, despite the large number of other temporary protections for Medicaid recipients that have been implemented,” said Rebecca Novick, Director of The Legal Aid Society’s Health Law Unit. “There’s no reason in the world that reductions should go forward.”
