Zachary W. Carter, Chair of The Legal Aid Society’s Board of Directors, is being honored by his alma mater New York University (NYU) for his exceptional personal and professional achievements and contributions to society.
Mr. Carter will receive the Keogh Award for Distinguished Public Service, which is presented to a respected and distinguished public figure who has a clearly demonstrated record of outstanding public service in their professional, vocational, social, and cultural endeavors. Past recipients include Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, astronaut Lee Morin, former Chancellor of New York City Schools Carmen Guillén Fariña, and former Chair of the Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan.
Mr. Carter was elected to Chair the Legal Aid board this fall, previously he had served as Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, and as a State judge. He will be honored at a ceremony on Friday, April 1 along with the five other distinguished alumni of NYU.
