The Legal Aid Society brought this class action lawsuit on behalf of delivery workers at four Domino’s pizza restaurants in Manhattan whose wages were stolen, resulting in payments of nearly $1.3 million in back wages to approximately 60 workers for opted into the settlement. The case, initially brought against the individual Domino’s franchises involved and their owners and managers, successfully added the international corporation Domino’s Pizza, Inc. as a joint employer subject to liability under wage and hour law. As a result, the case has served important precedential value in other joint employer cases. This case also led the Attorney General’s office to launch numerous investigations of Dominos franchises that led to multiple settlements.
