City and State Honors The Legal Aid Society's Ongoing Advocacy

Janet Sabel, Attorney-in-Chief and CEO, has been selected by City and State as one of the 100 most influential people in law, politics, and policy. Janet accepts this honor on behalf of the entire staff of The Legal Aid Society in recognition of their excellent work and advocacy which is being recognized.

Judith Goldiner, Attorney-in-Charge of the Civil Law Reform Unit, and Ellen Davidson, a staff attorney in the Unit, have been chosen as two of the 100 most powerful New Yorkers in real estate by City and State.

The Real Estate Power 100 list honors the most influential individuals in the industry across the state, including developers, elected officials, commissioners, advocates, and academics. Judith and Ellen are being honored for their critical tenant advocacy work. They have been at the forefront advocating for our clients during this pandemic and have urged lawmakers to enact several key housing reforms that have expanded the rights of low-income New Yorkers to prevent eviction, expand rental assistance, and preserve affordable housing.

Earlier this month, Susan Horwitz, Supervising Attorney of the Education Law Project, was named to City and State’s 2021 Education Power 100 for her efforts working to secure homeless families’ access to reliable internet at area shelters.
