LAS Urges Governor Cuomo to Sign Legislation Extending Eviction Moratorium

The Legal Aid Society called on Governor Cuomo to immediately sign legislation passed by state lawmakers which extends New York State’s eviction moratorium through August 31.

The moratorium ensures that New Yorkers who submit hardship waivers to the New York State Office of Court Administration will be shielded from eviction. It also allows critical time for $2.4 billion in rent relief to be distributed, as reported by Law360.

“Governor Cuomo should sign this bill into law without delay,” said Judith Goldiner, Attorney-In-Charge of the Civil Law Reform Unit at The Legal Aid Society.
