LAS Slams de Blasio’s Inaction Following Horrific NYPD Subway Assault

The Legal Aid Society slammed Mayor Bill de Blasio for failing to decisively condemn and discipline NYPD Officers Adonis Long and Shimul Saha for their involvement in the horrific subway attack on LAS client, Joseph T., reports The City. In an interview on Inside City Hall Monday night, the Mayor refused to disclose if his Administration would discipline the officers for this misconduct.

Legal Aid has repeatedly called on the Administration to fire Officers Long and Saha, and on the Manhattan DA to dismiss all charges pending against Joseph T., reports The City.

“Mayor Bill de Blasio’s mishandling of this situation serves as a microcosm of his colossal failure on police reform issues, notably his refusal to hold officers who commit heinous acts of misconduct quickly accountable,” said Edda Ness, Staff Attorney with The Legal Aid Society’s Manhattan Trial Office.
