Doret Preston, a 75-year-old woman with Alzheimer’s disease, is facing eviction from her public housing home in the Langston Hughes Houses in Brownsville. She’d been caring for her 91-year-old mother, whose name was on the lease. Preston’s mother died suddenly before she could add her daughter’s name to the lease. Now, The Legal Aid Society is fighting on her behalf to ensure she can remain in her home.
