LAS Joins Day of Action to Provide Legal Resources on "Public Charge" Rule

On October 23, The Legal Aid Society joined a Day of Action organized by the Public Advocate Jumaane Williams in partnership with community-based organizations SAFEST, Project New Yorker and the Bangladesh Society which all serve the South Asian Hillside community in Queens.

The goal was to provide legal resources to community members about the “public charge” rule and share know your rights materials covering a range of other topics.

The members of SAFEST and Project New Yorker provided Bengali and Urdu interpretation services throughout the entire evening and were critical to the overall engagement. Assembly Member David Weprin, who represents that district, was also in attendance.
