The Legal Aid Society is excited to announce that Lindsay Kendrick has joined our executive leadership team as our new Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer. Ms. Kendrick will lead organization-wide efforts to strengthen equity, inclusion, belonging, and accountability in support of the organization’s mission of equal justice.

A lawyer and organizational change leader, Lindsay has dedicated her career to expanding opportunity and building more equitable institutions. Before transitioning into diversity, equity, and inclusion work, she practiced as a litigation associate at Sullivan & Cromwell.

Earlier in her career, Lindsay led diversity and inclusion initiatives in law-firm settings, partnering with firm leadership, attorneys, professional staff, and external stakeholders to advance equitable recruitment, retention, professional development, and workplace-culture strategies.

Prior to joining The Legal Aid Society, Lindsay served as the inaugural Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at NYU School of Law. In that role, she developed and advanced initiatives to strengthen inclusion, belonging, and student success across the Law School community. Her work included creating the school’s first orientation program for first-generation students and building a cross-functional support scaffold for students navigating academic, personal, financial, and other challenges that could affect their ability to thrive.

As a strategic advisor, Lindsay partnered with senior leadership, faculty, administrators, students, and institutional colleagues to connect community members with resources, strengthen pathways of support, and promote a more responsive and equitable environment.

Lindsay is an alumna of Georgetown University, earned her Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law, and holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Change Management from The New School Milano.
