LAS Lauds Eviction Moratorium Extension

The Legal Aid Society celebrated the extension of New York’s residential eviction moratorium, legislation which was recently enacted into law, as reported by Patch.

The moratorium ensures that New Yorkers who submit hardship waivers to the New York State Office of Court Administration will be shielded from eviction until August 31, 2021.

“Albany lawmakers passed common sense legislation today to extend New York’s residential eviction moratorium for a crucial four additional months,” said Judith Goldiner, Attorney-In-Charge of the Civil Law Reform Unit at The Legal Aid Society.

Legal Aid also called on Albany to extend the moratorium should New York State find itself still mired in a pandemic come the end of August.
