Jason Wu Honored by City Bar for Work on LGBTQ+ Rights

Jason Wu, a staff attorney with The Legal Aid Society’s housing practice, is being honored by the New York City Bar Association as a recipient of the Art S. Leonard Award.

Each year, this award is bestowed to recognize a compelling commitment to LGBTQ+ equality through the law. In addition to his work at Legal Aid, Jason also sits on the steering committee at GAPIMNY, a queer and trans AAPI organization that provides political education and mutual aid.

“I’m proud to learn from and fight alongside so many amazing queer and transgender people of color—who have always led the way, said Wu. “As lawyers, we must remember that our work must be rooted in intersectional solidarity and collective movements to reimagine everything.”

The recognition comes on the heels of Jason being named to Good Morning America’s AAPI Inspiration List by Chinese-American filmmaker Bing Liu earlier this year.

This year’s ceremony will also celebrate the Hon. Marcy L. Kahn, Former Justice of the Appellate Division, First Department.
