The New York Immigrant Family Unity Project, also known as NYIFUP is a group of attorneys from The Legal Aid Society, The Bronx Defenders and Brooklyn Defender Services. We believe all people in immigration detention should have an attorney. We represent people with different kinds of immigration cases. We do not work for the U.S. government or the immigration court. All our services are free.

We can help you with your Immigration Court case for free if your Immigration Court case is at:
a New York City Immigration Court (most likely, the Varick Street Immigration Court)
a New Jersey Immigration Court, and you are a New York City resident.
Depending on your immigration or arrest history, some people may not be eligible to be released during their Immigration Court case. But some people are. If you are eligible for release, we can help you ask the court to release you. That may involve paying a bond to the court but not always. Again, we provide these legal services for free.
Having an attorney will make it much easier to explain things to the immigration judge, and to raise any defenses you might have.
