Progress Made in the McCain Case

Mayor Bloomberg and Steven Banks announce a significant and historic agreement in the McCain homeless families litigation requiring the provision of permanent housing in cases in which families can no longer remain in the shelter system and establishing a Special Masters Panel to resolve disputes and make recommendations for improvements in current assistance and services for homeless families.

In Brown v. Giuliani, the case involving the summary removal of the elderly residents of the Neponsit Health Care Center, The Legal Aid Society announced a settlement of more than $5 million.
