Expansion to Meet a Growing Need

Services were expanded; 2,832 people were assisted. Henry Ward Beecher donated space in the Plymouth Church in Brooklyn as a temporary office for volunteer lawyers to provide legal assistance for Brooklyn residents who could not afford the carriage fare to Manhattan. Pro Bono Publico comes to Brooklyn. Wage claims were the largest part of the caseload.
