Continued Commitment to Equal Protection under the Law

The presence of the Criminal Appeals Bureau in the Miranda cluster of cases [Vignera v. New York (384 U.S. 436), argued in 1966, re: a right to counsel and privilege against self-incrimination] was followed by the Bureau’s participation in the landmark eyewitness identification trilogy: United States v. Wade, Gilbert v. California and Stovall v. Denno (388 U.S. 293).
