The Legal Aid Society, in recent testimony delivered at a New York City Council hearing on COVID-19 vaccine distribution, condemned Governor Cuomo from ignoring the advice of public health experts recommending that jurisdictions immediately vaccinate people incarcerated at jails or prisons, congregate settings that perpetuated the spread of the virus, reports Huffington Post.

“It is a perverse idea of ‘public safety’ to force a group of people to sleep, breathe and eat in the same room as strangers, every day and night during a pandemic, yet deny them access to the vaccines,” said Mary Lynne Werlwas, Director of the Prisoners’ Rights Project at The Legal Aid Society.
