Dawne Mitchell Honored by Delta Sigma Theta with Trailblazer Award

Dawne Mitchell, Attorney-in-Charge of the Juvenile Rights Practice, has been selected by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Central New Jersey Alumnae Chapter to receive the 2019 Trailblazer Award for her outstanding work with children at The Legal Aid Society, with girls 14 to 18 in the Delta GEMS (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully), and her over-all exceptional work with children through community service.

“Serving children in our communities has always been about lifting and valuing people,” said Ms. Mitchell responding to the honor.

Mitchell has been an active member of the sorority for over 32 years, becoming a member while at Spellman College. The organization, founded in 1913, is a pillar in the Black community and committed to community service, scholarship, economic development, international awareness, physical and mental health, and social/political action.
