Listen: New York May Have Your Rent Money

Ellen Davidson, staff attorney at The Legal Aid Society, appeared on WCNY’s Capitol Pressroom podcast to break down how to apply for COVID rental relief funds through New York’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP).

The program provides access to more than $2 billion in federal and state rental assistance for New Yorkers facing rental debt incurred during the economic shutdown that has gripped the nation for the past year.

“The relief can cover up to 12 months of back rent and utility arrears,” Davidson said. “I recommend even if you don’t qualify under any of the priorities, to put your application in, so that you are in the line to have your application processed.”
