The Immigrant Justice Team – part of the Criminal Defense Practice – provides support to clients impacted by the criminal-legal system. Immigrant Justice Team attorneys are experts on the intersection of criminal and immigration law. We collaborate with Criminal Defense attorneys to advise non-citizen clients about the immigration consequences of a criminal prosecution and work to mitigate those consequences. We also conduct regular trainings for our colleagues in this ever-changing area of law. Our goal is to ensure that our clients are fully advised of their rights and options and that they are given the best possible chance to preserve their status and remain in the United States.

Our Impact

Our Immigrant Justice Team attorneys advise on thousands of cases per year. We also regularly work with community organizations to educate New Yorkers about the consequences of arrests and conduct Know Your Rights trainings for non-citizens.
