Twyla Carter, a national leader in public defense, civil rights, and access to justice work, was named Attorney-In-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of The Legal Aid Society. Carter became the first Black woman and first Asian American to serve in this role in the organization’s nearly 150-year history.
