The Legal Aid Society filed this first-impression lawsuit on behalf of a mother and her disabled son, a veteran with serious medical needs. The mother’s landlord prevented her from adding her son to her federally subsidized (Project-Based Section 8) apartment based on his credit history in violation of federal and state fair housing laws.

In January 2024, the parties settled for monetary relief for Plaintiff, as well as for the right for our client to add her disabled son to her housing composition.
