The Legal Aid Society fought to end the taking of Social Security benefits from children and youth in foster care. Because of our advocacy, the Administration for Children’s Services modified its policy, and made whole the disabled foster care children deprived of nearly $19 million in survivor benefits – money that could start them on a pathway to financial security and independence.
