Sadly, we also lost two former Legal Aid Society Presidents in 2015—Federal Judge Robert P. Patterson of the Southern District and Leon B. Silverman, who worked to desegregate schools in Little Rock, Arkansas. In a 1984 Supreme Court Case, Silverman recognized the importance of the Legal Aid Society by saying that the Society “enjoys a wide reputation for the devotion of its staff and the quality of its service.”
