LAS Leaders Join Mamdani Transition Team

The Legal Aid Society is lauding Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani for appointing four Legal Aid leaders to serve on his transition team. They join a dedicated group of New Yorkers who will provide critical personnel and policy insights to the incoming administration.

Twyla Carter, Attorney-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer, will serve on the Legal Affairs Committee; Adriene Holder, Chief Attorney of the Civil Practice, will serve on the Housing Committee, Meghna Philip, Director of the Special Litigation Unit for the Criminal Defense Practice, along with Alice Fontier, Project Managing Attorney for the Criminal Defense Practice, will serve on the Criminal Legal System Committee.

“I am honored to serve on Mayor-Elect Mamdani’s transition team, where I look forward to working alongside the other Legal Affairs Committee members to deliver lasting, positive change for the New Yorkers we all serve,” said Carter.

“It is imperative that the incoming Mamdani Administration continues to advocate on behalf of the most vulnerable New Yorkers to ensure all those who call this city home have access to an inclusive, affordable, and equitable city,” she continued. “As always, I remain committed to working alongside the incoming Mamdani Administration to improve the lives of the low-income people we represent.”
