The Legal Aid Society welcomed the release of New York City Police (NYPD) Department officers with adverse credibility findings from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is the fourth local prosecutor to release such a list following the Bronx, Brooklyn, and most recently, Queens, reports Gothamist.
“The release of these records is another important step towards transparency,” said Molly Griffard, Fellow with CAPstat at The Legal Aid Society. “But it is not the last step. We must continue to demand more public access to police misconduct information to allow the public to hold police and the administrations that protect them accountable, including the full repeal of 50a in the upcoming legislative session.”
