The Legal Aid Society is lauding the critical protections included for tenants in the “City for All” housing plan, measures recently announced by New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams.
“Today’s announcement by Speaker Adrienne Adams regarding the inclusion of critical tenant protections in the Council’s ‘City for All’ plan represents a significant step in combating the displacement that has long accompanied rezoning and development in New York City,” said Adriene Holder, Chief Attorney of the Civil Practice at Legal Aid.
“By strengthening and expanding CityFHEPS to keep tenants housed and restoring funding to the Anti-Harassment Tenant Protection program, alongside other tenant-focused initiatives, ‘City for All’ offers the holistic and responsible housing plan that New Yorkers deserve and expect from their leaders at City Hall,” she continued. “The Legal Aid Society commends Speaker Adrienne Adams and the City Council for prioritizing these essential safeguards for the communities we serve.”
